Signed 'CHAM' in the image. From a series titled 'Croquades Politiques' which was published in the French magazine 'Le Charivari'. 'Cham' was the pseudonym for Amedee-Charles-Henri the second son of Comte Louis de Noe. Cham studied painting under Paul Delaroche and the art of lithography in the studio of Nicholas-Toussaint Charlet. His first lithograph was published in 1839 and for the following forty years his art concentrated upon amusing scenes of middle class life ranging from the foibles of fashion to the hazards of horse racing. His many lithographs comprise a wonderful study of French life and culture during the mid nineteenth century. unknown

Celles-ci sont principalement propres, mais présentent quelques marques sur la couverture arrière. Très légère usure des bords. Taches à l'intérieur de la couverture. Les couvertures en papier ont été doublées de papier, et les couvertures avant et arrière ont commencé à se décoller. Nom du propriétaire soigneusement inscrit sur la première page / page de titre. Le reste du livre est propre, avec des rousseurs légères à modérées. Seize pages numérotées, imprimées uniquement au recto. Chacune contient quatre caricatures. 23,5 cm x 18 cm. Conforme à WorldCat / OCLC : 2065854. Cham (Charles-Amédée de Noé, comte de Noé, 1818-1879), caricaturiste et lithographe parisien d'origine aristocratique, a défié les attentes de ses parents qui souhaitaient le voir embrasser une carrière conventionnelle pour se former auprès de Charlet et Delaroche. Son pseudonyme est dérivé de ses initiales (C.A. Ham) et du nom du fils de Noé. Il a contribué à environ 40 000 dessins satiriques pour Le Charivari (1839-75), et a été le pionnier des bandes dessinées en deux cases dans des albums tels que Moeurs Algériennes (1843) et Les Toques du Jour (1847). À la fin de sa vie, il vécut à Batignolles à la suite d'un scandale sexuel ; il illustra l'Album du Siège (1870) et Les Folies de la Commune (1871). Il fut décoré de la Légion d'honneur en 1877. Il mourut de tuberculose à Paris.
