Rebound in black buckram with gilt to spine faint library #s at bottom spine some minor finger marks and normal wear. Title page a bit grubby with old repair at bottom edge verso of title page has library stamp and a note that the donor was Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty in 1898 who was anti-fascist before the war and convicted of treason by the Communists in Hungary in 1949 was released in 1956 and stayed in the grounds of the U. S. Embassy until 1971. Text pages lightly browned but otherwise clean. The folding documents have short tears at the gutter fold some old tape repairs on one page but otherwise good. Old library pocket at rear. A very hard to find first edition of Knauz's work on medieval Hungarian churches in Esztergom/Strigoniiensis a gift to the institution from the famous Cardinal Mindszenty. ; Ex-Library; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 883 pages .
