Charles Ferdinand Duc de Berry son of Charles X in 1816. Mother of Henri Duc de Bordeaux exiled with the rest of the court in 1830 came back clandestinely in April 1832 in an attempt to place her son on the throne with her as a regent. Arrested and imprisoned in November 1832 freed in 1833 and sent to Palermo; she settled in Austria where she died.She commissioned a series of 250 lithographs reproducing paintings from the collection of the Duc de Berry. By Leon Deroy in the original French. Illustrated with sixteen full page plates. Collated complete. In the original publisher's decorative wraps. With a home made dust wrapper with the bookseller's sticker internally to the rear wrap. Acquired from the sale of Paul Gallico's library American novelist and short story and spots writer best remembered for The Snow Goose and The Poseidon Adventure. In the original publisher's decorative wraps. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only. Internally. firmly bound with the hinges only slightly tender to page 1. The pages are bright and clean only minor faint spotting to the fore edge affecting the occasional margin and leaf faintly. Illustrated with sixteen full page plates. Collated complete.
