The Gallery of Living Art was founded in 1927 by A.E. Gallatin one of the most important early collectors of modernist art as a public space for the exhibition of his personal collection. The Gallery of Living Art is considered the first museum dedicated exclusively to modernism and became a resource for contemporary artists in the downtown New York art scene. Includes four-page essay by Gallatin and a nine-page essay by Mauny. Copy of Ferol Sibley Warthen a listed Provincetown MA artist and student of important modernist Blanche Lazell with her Warthen's small inscription to interior front. Scarce. 7.5'' x 5''. Original silver foil wrappers with circular die cut to front. Original cellophane sheets over front and rear intact though rear detached. Contents partially disbound separated from wrappers. Loss from spine. Moderate foxing throughout. Complete but good to fair only as common. A fragile production. [n.p.] unknown
