Two school boys are having a conversation about days off! Image on stiff card. 23cm x 32cm. The card is 31cm x 38.5cm. The image itself is clean the surrounding area has dirt and some loss of surface are from being stuck under a mount. Now loosely held under passe partout. Card is a little marked to the verso. Francisque Poulbot 1879–1946 was a French illustrator poster designer and draughtsman renowned for his depictions of Montmartre's street children known as "Poulbots" and his humanitarian efforts in Paris. . Première édition. Affiche rare de Poubot non datée mais datant environ de 1920. Réalisée pour Les Fabriques Françaises. Deux écoliers discutent de leurs jours de congé ! Image sur carton rigide. 23 cm x 32 cm. Le carton mesure 31 cm x 385 cm. L'image elle-même est propre mais la zone environnante présente des salissures et quelques pertes de surface dues au fait qu'elle a été collée sous un passe-partout. Maintenant maintenue sans fixation sous un passe-partout. Le carton est légèrement marqué au verso. Francisque Poulbot 1879-1946 était un illustrateur affichiste et dessinateur français réputé pour ses représentations des enfants des rues de Montmartre connus sous le nom de « Poulbots » et pour son action humanitaire à Paris. In the upper part there is a beautiful original print signed Francisque Poulbot representing the citizens of the Republic of Montmartre returning from vacation. In the spirit of the Paris Commune the Republic of Montmartre was created in 1921 by Parisian artists Joé Bridge Adolphe Willette Jean-Louis Forain Francisque Poulbot Maurice Neumont Louis Morin Maurice Milliere Raoul Guerin and Jules Depaquit . His parties and banquets often organized in the mythical places of Montmartre Moulin de la Galette Circus Medrano Moulin Rouge were intended to weld the Montmartre community by mutual aid and sociability. Poulbot 1879 - 1946 was a well-known affichiste celebrated for both his World War One posters and postcards and for his illustrations of Parisian street kids which are front and center of this self-published collection of cartoons. Cover has light soiling and creased corners. Upper spine tip missing -- about 1/4 inch or 1 cm gone. Pages are cut very unevenly as was intended and these are clean. By the author. In the foreground his wife holds their youngest child and stands with their other two children. The son his holding a wooden sword and wears a French soldier's cap and the daughter is waving a small Tricolore. The message below translates as: 'Don't forget to subscribe. for Victory!. and his return!". 1915 was the first year that France established a war loan program to assist in paying for the conflict. This poster urges the public to subscribe in the first 'Emprunt de la Defense Nationale' National Defence Loan. Francisque Poulbot 1879-1946 was a French poster designer draughtsman and illustrator known for his charming depictions of children and childhood. His prolific output of patriotic posters and postcards during World War One led to him being held under house arrest during the German occupation during World War Two. Mounted on linen.
