Richardson was a leading English architect being the Professor of Architecture of the University College London as well as being the editor of the 'Architects' Journal'. His other works include 'The Significance of the Fine Arts' and 'London Houses from 1660 to 1820'. Gill was a Scottish architect and a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
