ONE OF THE UNDISPUTED MASTERPIECES OF 1890s LITHOGRAPHY, a sardonic and desultory (and yet subtly humorous) portrayal (in ten lithographs on fine Chinese paper) of the life of "Madame Whoever", a typical woman of the Parisian bourgeoisie. Even as her life passes before our eyes, her face is never revealed to us. Each lithograph measures 41 x 31.5 cm. They are loose, as issued, in the original lithographed folder with the series title and the titles of the individual lithographs printed (lithographically) on the front cover, which is also numbered in pencil and SIGNED by the artist with his monogram. Minor marginal defects, else FINE AND BRIGHT. Very rare, especially complete.
