Sachen-Weimar-schen und -Gotha'schen Hofrath und Leibarzt ernannt worden war. Er starb am 16. Juli 1736. An grösseren Schriften ist nichts von ihm bekannt dagegen wurden unter seinem Namen etwa 120 Disputationen als von ihm herrührend aufgeführt unter denen wir nur eine "De animalculis sepermaticis von den kleinen Tierlein welche in den männlichen Samen der Menschen und Thieren gefunden werden secundum principium physiologico-metaphysica methodo mathematica demonstrata resp. Hermann-Paul 1864-1940 was a French artist who produced a great many illustrations for magazines and newspapers and his works of fine art found themselves displayed in galleries next to those by some of the great names of the Impressionist age. Hermann-Paul 1864-1940 rose to fame during the Belle Epoque with his cutting satiric depiction of the foibles of French Society was a noted defender of Alfred Dreyfus whom after the war departed from his previously leftist ideals of the Parisian art scene and spent much of the between-the-wars period as an outsider. Signed and dedicated.Rene Georges Hermann-Paul born in Paris he trained as a painter at both the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and the Academie Julian. Hermann-Paul’s prints and caricatures established his reputation by the beginning of the twentieth century. His drawings for Le Courrier Francais starting in 1894 and for Le Rire as well as his active support of Alfred Dreyfus led to involvement with anarchist journals. A satirist of bourgeois values cynical abrasive and even rude in his depictions Hermann-Paul was an active social commentator for more than three decades although in his last years his politics moved decisively towards the right. Provenance: Jacques Cathy - Né en 1906 à Lezay Deux-Sèvres Jacques Cathy a exercé d’abord la profession de caricaturiste à l’hebdomadaire « Le Rire ». Il a rejoint vers 1927 l’équipe du Cabaret « La Vache Enragée » conduite par Roger Toziny. Jacques Cathy poursuit sa carrière de chansonnier après le décès de Toziny en 1939 et après la guerre il conduit parallèlement une carrière d’acteur dans le cinéma.
