Jcris la Maison Devambez qui dite mon Album denvoyer prendre chez vous les petites aquarelles qui doivent en faire partie...Je suis venu, ici, un peu ananti mais je recommence dessiner malgr un froid hors saison. La censure ma refus deux dessins !... Elle me payera a plus tard... Il ajoute sous le dessin : ...Les vis du lit vont bien et comme nous vous embrassent...Adolphe Lon Willette est l'lve d'Alexandre Cabanel l'cole des beaux-arts de Paris. Il y fait la connaissance d'Antonio de La Gandara, ds 1875, et dbute au Salon de 1881.Il s'installe Montmartre en 1882 et loue avec son frre, le docteur Willette, un atelier au 20, rue Vron.Il illustre Victor Hugo, peint des fresques et des vitraux, dessine des cartes postales, des affiches publicitaires, des couvertures de livres et, en change d'un repas, des menus de brasserie. Ses reprsentations de Pierrot et Colombine lui valent une certaine popularit.Avec Rodolphe Salis et mile Goudeau, il participe la cration du cabaret parisien Le Chat noir du boulevard Rochechouart o il expose, puis qu'il dcore de panneaux. Au Chat Noir, il retrouve Antonio de La Gandara et frquente galement Henri Rivire, Maurice Donnay, Steinlen, Maurice Rollinat, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Signac, Camille Pissarro, Vincent van Gogh, Louis Anquetin ou Georges Seurat.En 1891, il prend la dfense du montmartrois et communard Jean-Baptiste Clment . En 1920, il fondit avec Forain et Poulbo la Rpublique de Montmartre.

Heriot was liberated from Dachau concentration camp on April 2 1945 at age 50 reference available on request.<br /> <br /> Adolphe Willette original lithograph illustrated birth announcement showing a lovely large picture frame with the upper corner revealing a windmill and crescent moon and an infant at lower right. Signed in the plate at lower right.<br /> <br /> Willette 1857-1926 was a French caricaturist painter lithographer and architect of the Moulin Rouge whose many works in the illustrated press Le Pied de Nez le Courier Francais and Le Rire often appeared under various pseudonyms. He was active during the Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau period and was a member of the Cornet Society a group of artists musicians writers academics and playwrights who gathered at various restaurants around Montmartre. Known for his lithographs posters paintings and illustrations Willette was called the "Pierrot of Montmartre" because of his fascination with this comedia del'arte character. Willette's famous 'Parce Domine' painting with many Pierrot figures first decorated the Montmartre cabaret Le Chat Noir; it is now at the Montmartre Museum. Willette also contributed posters to Masters of the Poster Maitres de l'Affiche.<br /> <br /> Image 8 1/2 x 6" printed on thinner paper applied to thicker board 13 1/2 x 10 3/4" unknown
