A treatise on calligraphy and book design from Thomas James Cobden-Sanderson an English artist and bookbinder associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. This artistic and critical essay presents theoretical explorations of the essence of beautifully crafted books delving into the elements that constitute a 'Book Beautiful' and emphasizing the significance of calligraphy typography and illustration. Translated by Jan Tschichold a German calligrapher typographer and book designer who played a significant role in the development of graphic design in the twentieth century. Noted for developing and promoting principles of typographic modernism and subsequently idealizing conservative typographic structures. In the original card wraps.
