Dixonary is the first comprehensive book on one of Britain's best known and most highly regarded product designers, in his own words and with a wealth of illustrations showing the inspiration behind each work he has produced in almost 30 years of design. Self-taught and a child of the punk era, Dixon (born 1959) founded his own studio in 1991 and became Head of Design at Habitat in 1998 before reestablishing his own brand, Tom Dixon - a lighting and furniture design and manufacturing company - in 2002. He has also been Creative Director at Artek, the Finnish furniture company founded by Alvar and Aino Aalto. Dixon's artistic career began when he discovered the pleasures of welding while repairing damaged motorcycle frames; he went on to specialize in welded salvage furniture and became known as a designer when his S-Chair was manufactured by Guido Cappellini in 1991. Dixon's previous books include Rethink (2002), an analysis of each room in the modern home, and The Interior World of Tom Dixon (2008), a book of ideas and observations on design, materials and style. Dixonary is the first complete monograph of this British innovator.

Those who know one or two aspects of the Eameses' work are often surprised to learn just how far and vast their range extended. Yet, throughout their myriad works, from architecture and furniture to exhibition design and filmmaking, their core philosophy prevails. An Eames Primer is the first book to illuminate this seamless connection. Author Eames Demetrios explores the rich energy of the Eameses' world from a unique perspective, informed by his close relationship with Charles and Ray. He shares personal anecdotes, previously unpublished photos, and his extensive interviews with former friends and colleagues of the Eameses to make connections between the Eameses' influential philosophy and their widely admired work. For those unacquainted with the designers, the stories behind the design process will inform, entertain, and inspire, while readers with an extensive knowledge of the Eameses' work gain a deeper level of understanding their process.

Terje Ekstrom was the first postmodern designer in Norway and his futuristic chairs even made it into the Star Trek TV-Series; this is the first monograph on the designer Informative description of the Norwegian design scene in the 1980s Accompanies the exhibition of Frank Nievergelt's donation at The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo (NO)The work of the pioneering designer Terje Ekstrom (1944-2013) contributed a new vitality and independence to the Norwegian design scene of the 1970s and '80s, at a time of cultural and social change. Ekstrom represented a new generation of designers who challenged the ideals of the golden age of Scandinavian design. As this richly illustrated book shows, Ekstrom was both a product of his own time and far ahead of it. Seen as one of Norway's first postmodern designers, his internationally successful Ekstrem chair achieved iconic status due to its unique and visionary qualities, as did his audio equipment design for the renowned Tandberg Radiofabrikk. Including specially commissioned photographs of his workplace and home, this book for the first time tells the story of Ekstrom's design practice, characterized by an eclectic search for originality.Contents: A Tribute to Terje Ekstrom (Widar Halen); Acknowledgements; In Search of Originality (Denise Hagstromer); The Art of Sitting Naturally (Espen Johnsen); The Reluctant Postmodernist - Terje Ekstrom and His Ekstrem Seating Concept (Trygve Ask); High Fidelity: Visioning Sound at Tandbergs Radiofabrikk (Kjetil Fallan); Capturing the Momentum: The 1984 Interior Now: Norwegian experimental design exhibition (Denise Hagstromer); Terje Ekstrom - Janne B.
