The book was published to celebrate the five-hundredth anniversary of the appearance of the first printed book in Bohemia in 1468 The Trojan Chronicles. From the English-language resume: "the great seventeenth-century Czech humanist Jan Amos Komenský . had faith in the grandiose possibilities open to the printed word that can spread life-giving ideas. And finally it is to the second half of the twentieth century that the book owes its graphic design. This is the work of two contemporary Czech artists who have many times already shown themselves to be outstanding masters of book design and illustration -- the graphic designer and typographer OldÅich Hlavsa and the painter graphic artist and illustator ZdenÄk SklenáÅ. It is no coincidence that this bibliophile publication is designed and illustrated in a way that enables the artistic aspects of its typography to create new meanings." Parallel Latin and Czech text with Czech editorial notes and English Russian German and French summaries. Striking large-scale typographic design by Hlavsa incorporating fonts such as Bodoni Times Roman an eighteenth-century Prague specimen Verdi Frutiger's Univers and Menhart's Figural.
