1963011463London: Hutchinson 1963. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good . Presentation copy from author and British swell Beverly Nichols 1898 - 1983 to art-collector artist inventor author designer and American swell Nancy Hays Hammond 1904-1985 on the ffe: "For N.H.H. With Christmas greetings from B. N.one of the many contributors of this little book. who.as she will learn inside is not. So distinguished as he how briefly how briefly imagines." Nichols contribution is a witty piece called "On Discovering that Jane Austen was One's Great-Great-Great-Aunt". Hammond does not appear; it seems that Nichol's inscription to Hammond is his typically arch way to perhaps ridicule the editorship of the book for not including an article that Hammond may have submitted. Book near fine dustjacket price-clipped. Nichols inscriptions aren't that common particulalrly considering how much he got published. Hutchinson hardcover books
