This "Practical Design" monthly features the work of Oda Kazuma 1882-1956 in this its first issue. This issue features articles on the use of electric lights at night for advertising with a note at the end on some recent advertising posters that have appeared. Obviously a periodical by professionals for professionals in the design and advertising world. Not a world one usually thinks of Oda Kazuma belonging to but here he turns his talents at lithographic printmaking to more practical ends with sevarl examples of advertising designs and commercial art. This scarce work is a comprehensive monograph on the life and early career of acclaimed Ukrainian stage and film actor Amvrosi Buchma 1891-1957. Buchma's most notable film roles are perhaps in Aleksandr Dovzhenko's "Arsenal" 1929 pictured in this book and Sergei Eisenstien's "Ivan the Terrible Pt. I & II" 1944 and 1958. He was a prominent member of the Berezil theater from 1922-1936. Issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his entry to the stage as a professional actor the publication is illustrated throughout with countless b/w photographic reproductions and covers the actor's work on both stage and screen. Index of images and table of contents at the back.<br /> <br /> Biographic text captions throughout and index in both Ukrainian and German. <br /> <br /> Dust jacket with some tears and reinforced with Japan tissue. La fine dei "grandi racconti" sostituiti, nell'epoca della comunicazione, dalla pervasiva presenza di micro narrazioni si impone come uno dei tratti dominanti della nostra contemporaneità. E, laddove "tutto è narrazione", anche il design si presta ad essere accomunato sempre più frequentemente ad una forma di storytelling. L'accostamento tra i due termini, design e narrazioni , che unisce gli interventi di questa piccola collezione di testi merita, per i suoi autori, più di un motivo di riflessione. La congiunzione "e" che lega il sistema delle narrazioni al sistema design vuole evitare l'equivoco che il progettista possa assumere le sembianze di un affabulatore; che il discorso strategico possa vivere anche in assenza di progetto e che i prodotti possano essere intesi come pure emanazioni narrative della marca. Il design viene qui presentato come sistema culturale che immette innovazione nei contesti materiali e sociali attraverso la progettazione di nuovi artefatti, oggettuali, relazionali, virtuali, comunicativi, spaziali, strumentali ecc., producendo una rete estesa di significati alimentati da narrazioni strettamente intrecciate con l'attività progettuale e di supporto alla sua necessità di trasmettere e condividere nuove forme di conoscenza.

The publication is a very small softcover Polish-language promotional booklet for the Soviet musical film ВеÑёлые ребÑта known in English as "Jolly Fellows". Profusely illustrated throughout with photomontage in b/w photogravure featuring stills from the film and close-ups of the stars. The cover features leading actress Lyubov Orlova. The film which was directed by Grigori Aleksandrov for Mosfilm was an extremely popular comedic musical in its time and garnered international critical acclaim. Included in the booklet are some main credits from the film and a short essay/review of the film by Polish artist and graphic designer StanisÅ‚aw Rzecki. The booklet was distributed at the "Grazyna" movie theater in Lviv now Ukraine and bears its name stamped on the front cover. At the time of the inter-war period Lviv was part of the Second Polish Republic. Text in Polish. Minor rubbing to the edges and corners of the wrappers. Staple rusted.
