Thin 4to. Buckram cloth binding. Watkins 1894-1972 was born in New York City. Getting early training with Cecilia Beaux at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts - most of his career as an artist was spent in Philadelphia. He developed a reputation as a portraitist - but also provided sets and costumes for a Balanchine ballet and the murals for the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia. G. Alan Chidsey was a New York bookseller lawyer and occasional book designer who served as a trustee to the Marsden Hartley estate.
