Unpaginated with profuse black-and-white photographs Introduction by Lamar Dodd & Commentaries by the artist . One of only 2500 copies printed in the winter of 1945 this small quarto has beige cloth-covered boards stamped & lettered in red to front & spine. Condition is VG: very clean binding strong & straight hinges secure pages lightly tanned but completely unmarked save for very shallow & mild dampstain to outer top edges a bit deeper to the last couple of pages & rear endpapers. Mild rubbing to extremities & bumping to both ends of spine & all corners with a barely perceptible dampstain to some parts of lower edges does not bleed inside here. The price-clipped DJ is VG with light rubbing/crinkling at head of spine. Nicely protected in new mylar cover free! Textblock edges lightly foxed verso of Inscribed leaf and first two leaves foxed as well as a bit of light scattered foxing throughout thus very good or better in moderately worn about very good dust jacket with the spine rubbed and the lettering dulled and shallow loss at the folds and spine ends. One of 2500 copies printed. Inscribed and with an ink sketch by Charlot on a front blank: "For Sister Roberta A restless model and an excellent helper. Jean Charlot Notre Dame Summer 1955." The sketch measures approximately 2" x 3" and features a peg-legged pirate holding a large saw and seated beneath the Jolly Roger.
