Addicted to drugs and making a living as a prostitute in a cheap hotel in Mexico she meets Dan Sullivan Meredith a criminal who tries to involve Holly in a blackmail scheme. When she discovers her husband Clay is the target she kills Sullivan. Unable to afford a lawyer she is assigned a dedicated young public defender whom she soon recognizes as her son.
