Sehr guter Zustand / In very good condition. - Joan Crawford (* 23. … (wiki) // JOAN CRAWFORD’S iconic beauty, dazzling confidence, and sheer toughness made her the very definition of a star. Her formidable talent won her an Oscar for 1945’s Mildred Pierce and shines through in other classics such as Grand Hotel, 'The Women, and Possessed. Focusing on the often overlooked first half of her career, this lavish volume reclaims her place in the canon of glamour. Beginning with her screen debut in 1925, Crawford pioneered a new depth that had not been seen before in roles for women. Her domineering charisma gave audiences a new kind of heroine, one with whom women—and many men—could identify in ways they never had before. With her beguiling ability to mix ambition, sex appeal, and vulnerability, Joan laid the way for today’s actresses. Although she was a product of the studio system, Crawford was also the first star to fully understand the importance of crafting her own image. She spent coundess hours shooting with the brilliant photographer George Hurrell and cultivated a close relationship with Hollywood’s finest couturier Adrian. As the photos here attest, she had an uncanny ability to spark chemistry, on and off screen, with the leading men of her halcyon days— among them Ramon Novarro, Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, and Lionel Barrymore. Drawing from archives around the world and including more than a hundred photos unseen in the past twenty-five years, Joan Crawford: The Enduring Star reintroduces us to this ultimate Hollywood legend. ...
