Repaired tears The Drop Kick also known as Glitter in the UK is a 1927 silent film directed by Millard Webb written by Katherine Brush about a college football player Richard Barthelmess who finds his reputation on the line when he pays an innocent visit to a woman whose husband kills himself. It was one of the early films of John Wayne who was only aged 20 in the film. He too played a college footballer from USC. A mute silent print was transferred onto 16mm film by Associated Artists Productions in the 1950s and in 1960s by United Artists Television. Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Contemporary dark cloth bdg. in its period with ornamental art-nouveau embossing on board. Title gilded on spine in Turkish with Latin alphabet, probably in ca. 1930s. Foxing on pages and edges. Several notes b pencil in Ottoman script by ex-owner. Otherwise a good copy. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In Ottoman script (Turkish with Arabic letters). 141, [2] p., [blank pages]. This book generally describes the types of "Ilm-i nücum", using the letter symbolism of worshiping the stars, making sense of the positions and movements of the stars, and looking at fortune-telling with the zodiac. In addition, the book, which uses the mawâlid (prophecy by looking at the position of the star in the zodiacal zone during human birth) and ihtiyârât (deciding by choosing the times that are considered auspicious and ominous), mentions a system based on seven planets, twelve lunar months and twelve signs. For those who want to learn about the future from the stars, the book tells that each of the seven days of the week is under the influence of a star according to classical teaching and counts these stars: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Very Good Turkish First and only edition of this very rare 20th century Turkish-Americana, and the first book written to introduce the world of Hollywood to the Turkish audience, by the first Turkish society reporter. Turan Aziz Beler was a modern pioneer of magazine journalism in Turkey. Beler was born in Istanbul in 1912. He started his literary career as a journalist. His first novel "Sevda" [i.e. Love] also stands out but "Türedi Ailesi" [i.e. Türedi Family] brought him fame. According to Beler's foreword in the book, the purpose of his travel is to clarify all things known incorrectly about Hollywood in Turkey. He spent three and a half years in Hollywood with many celebrities and interviewed American stars. He examined the conditions under which American popular cinema was formed. According to his own statement, he expressed the witty language that he was grateful to Hollywood for not having gotten married or gotten beaten He has very interesting and funny wording in this 1930s Hollywood travel memoirs. Original press kit for the French film with printed text and eight -13 x 18 cm. photos .The Trial French: Le procès is a 1962 drama film directed by Orson Welles who also wrote the screenplay based on the 1925 posthumously published novel of the same name by Franz Kafka. Welles stated immediately after completing the film: "The film begins with Welles narrating Kafka's parable "Before the Law" to pinscreen scenes created by the artists Alexandre Alexeieff and Claire Parker. Anthony Perkins stars as Josef K. a bureaucrat who is accused of a never-specified crime and Jeanne Moreau Romy Schneider and Elsa Martinelli play women who become involved in various ways in Josef's trial .Roger Corbeau born November 20 1908 in Haguenau Alsace was drawn to the cinema from a very young age. He moved to Paris in 1932 and began helping with props on film sets first for Roger Richebé then for Marcel Pagnol who hired Corbeau as a movie stills photographer in 1933. They worked together for six years. With his demanding work ethic and talent Corbeau quickly became a force in the French cinema. His photographs serve as a fervent tribute to the actors who left their mark on the medium from the 1930s to the 1980s. Corbeau took pictures on the sets of 160 films.
