Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Paperback. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In Ottoman script. 54 p., b/w plates. Harekât-i kevniye yahud tehavvülât-i arziye. In his book, Nazmi explains in above all, the formation of the earth with seas and lands. And he explains that the earth was formed in three major geographical times. And book includes Solar System and planets forming it (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune) and their structure. Nazmi tells that being 309 newly discovered planets until his time and he acquaints more than 500 stars which rotating around the Sun. At the last chapter includes structure of the Moon. Nice copy of the seventh edition. Inked ownership of Robert Bridges (1865-1930), while a student at Princeton. Robert Bridges was long a figure of note and power in the American literary world, and often confused with the British Poet Laureate of the same name. Born at Shippensburg, PA he went to Princeton, where he met his best friend through life and classmate, Woodrow Wilson. Bridges was successful as a newspaper reporter, 1880-1887, the literary critic of Life, 1883-1900, the assistant editor and editor of Scribner's Magazine, 1887-1930. He published occasional prose and verse, but his greatest influence is the particular interest he took in the young authors, notably Booth Tarkington. SCIENCE BOX 2. **PRICE JUST REDUCED!
This is a very good hardcover copy in a very good but sunned dustjacket. The jacket is white with mauve spine and right edges. The mauve parts are sunned at the top. SIGNED by Cornell Lucas in ink and dated 1988 on the half title-page under the photograph of Marlene Dietrich and the title. Not inscribed to anyone, just signed. Illustrated throughout in black & white with Cornell Lucas's photographs of film stars, both actors and directors. Each of the portraits is accompanied by a brief comment on the individual and the photo session. Uncommon. Scarce signed. 11" high X 9" wide, 125 pages.
