WALTER-FILM000267No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Vintage original 14 x 11"" 35 x 28 cm. lobby card USA. Alan Ladd Veronica Lake William Bendix Howard Da Silva dir: George Marshall; Paramount. One of the finest classic film noir titles and written by the master of the genre Raymond Chandler. The story involved a war vet who returns home to see his wife with another man. She is murdered and he is the prime suspect. The Blue Dahlia is a nightclub where much of the action takes place. Chandler initially had the returning vet Bendix as the murderer but the patriotic atmosphere of the time would not permit a war vet to be seen in that light so he had to rewrite the story and character. William Bendix as Buzz is at center Alan Ladd as Johnny Morrison to left Hugh Beaumont as George and Tom Powers as Capt. Hendrickson. There are three pin holes at top center blank white margin and one at the bottom margin. Card has a ""3"" written next to the copyright information NEAR FINE. unknown books

First in 1936 date stamped Dec. 24 1936 on her own and a few months later March 15 1937 when she shows off to athletic coach Nick. Though the original blurbs print on verso do not mention it it is probable these shots are to publicize her Paramount film WAIKIKI WEDDING NEAR FINE. unknown books

The drama of three castaways all from different levels of society brought together on a deserted schooner in the ocean. Presented here are stars Dorothy Dalton and Jack Holt. Holt would go on through the 1940s as a Western and adventure actor. Dalton was a star of silents but would give up her career for marriage in 1924. Their co-star Mitchell Lewis would go on to play uncredited bits in films through the 1950s most notably as the Winkie Captain in The Wizard of Oz. Superb period design makes this card a standout. excellent condition. Tiny filled-in pinhole near top and bottom right corners FINE. unknown books

May McAvoy Lois Wilson Elliott Dexter George Fawcett dir: William C. deMille; Paramount. Based on a Broadway play this film told the story of Mrs. Stanley who loses her clergyman husband. Mother of teenage twins she decides to change her lifestyle including her drab clothes takes a job as a librarian and even dances with an admirer at her childrens' high school dance. The conservative children eventually learn that their selfishness is standing in the way of their mother's happiness her being only 38-years-old. Undoubtedly a lost film. Interestingly school teacher-turned-actress Lois Wilson who played the role at the age of 29 was just 5-years-older than both stars May McAvoy and Robert Agnew who played the twins. In this highly romantic image from the Golden Age of silent cinema we have Lois Wilson with Elliott Dexter as the Professor. There is a lot of writing on back of card in pencil which does not show through and card is otherwise immaculate NEAR FINE. unknown books

Howard Paramount. The ever-versatile Bebe Daniels in a disaster epic which takes place in Martinique ca. 1902 during a volcanic eruption. The romantic element concerned an interracial relationship taboo at the time which of course turned out not to be so when in the last reel it is discovered that the male lover is really white. The film was believed lost but a damaged print does survive. Bebe Daniels Arthur Edward Carewe and Wallace Berry are in the center image. The title and credits are caught up in the enveloping eruption of the volcano in this highly stylistic card of superb 1920s lobby card art. In fair condition lightly aged and creased. Folded twice for postage. He apologises for the late reply to her ‘nice note and the book-plate’. He gives details of two films he has been ‘terribly busy making’ ‘neither of them stories I wrote’: ‘The Phoenix is to start in Berlin this winter as a very big film with three big stars. And The Lorelei is to be made this summer on the Rhine as a film.’ He is sorry to learn that she has given up her restaurant in Honiton ‘Deer Park’: ‘It was a lovely place and without doubt the finest English cooking we’ve found.’ He ends by informing her that his wife has returned to California for the winter on account of her health. ‘So I’m alone with the two poodles.’ Eileen M. A stunning image of Dietrich at her most glamorous 1930s appearance. After five years of making films nearly exclusively with director Josef von Sternberg she was allowed to work in various genres with different directors including Borzage and Lubitsch. This portrait was most likely made during the months she was making the romantic comedy Angel. As always her styling is impeccable: she is wearing what is likely a suit by Travis Banton her lighting and make-up flawless in creating her star illusion. The ""Paramount Pictures Marlene Dietrich"" byline is at the bottom left edge of the image and there is a production number at the right edge which appears to be ""1167-482"". Minor wear creases at bottom left corner and one crease at top right corner ABOUT FINE. unknown books
