Chandler initially had the returning vet Bendix as the murderer but the patriotic atmosphere of the time would not permit a war vet to be seen in that light so he had to rewrite the story and character. William Bendix as Buzz is at center Alan Ladd as Johnny Morrison to left Hugh Beaumont as George and Tom Powers as Capt. Hendrickson. Born in New Orleans the stunning and sultry Lamour was crowned Miss New Orleans in 1931 then became a band singer and radio performer. She worked her way up with bit roles in films before her breakthrough role in THE JUNGLE PRINCESS. The film was released at Christmas 1936 and she became an iconic film figure wearing her sarong supposedly designed by uncredited Edith Head. Paramount had a gold mine and promoted Lamour in a host of sarong-type wear throughout 1937 no matter the period or setting of the films she was making including SWING HIGH SWING LOW THRILL OF A LIFETIME and the historical musical HIGH WIDE AND HANDSOME. Dorothy and her baby crocodile appear to have been photographed during production of THE JUNGLE PRINCESS. Still is coded P2156-458. Paramount copyright at bottom. Noll Turner has no intention of doing that even though torch singer femme fatale Kay does her best to intervene. Their first film together Douglas and Lancaster would form a company and make six more films. Lancaster appears on this poster with Liz Scott. A stunning image of Dietrich at her most glamorous 1930s appearance. After five years of making films nearly exclusively with director Josef von Sternberg she was allowed to work in various genres with different directors including Borzage and Lubitsch. This portrait was most likely made during the months she was making the romantic comedy Angel. As always her styling is impeccable: she is wearing what is likely a suit by Travis Banton her lighting and make-up flawless in creating her star illusion. The ""Paramount Pictures Marlene Dietrich"" byline is at the bottom left edge of the image and there is a production number at the right edge which appears to be ""1167-482"". The drama of three castaways all from different levels of society brought together on a deserted schooner in the ocean. Presented here are stars Dorothy Dalton and Jack Holt. Holt would go on through the 1940s as a Western and adventure actor. Dalton was a star of silents but would give up her career for marriage in 1924. Their co-star Mitchell Lewis would go on to play uncredited bits in films through the 1950s most notably as the Winkie Captain in The Wizard of Oz. Mother of teenage twins she decides to change her lifestyle including her drab clothes takes a job as a librarian and even dances with an admirer at her childrens' high school dance. The conservative children eventually learn that their selfishness is standing in the way of their mother's happiness her being only 38-years-old. Undoubtedly a lost film. Interestingly school teacher-turned-actress Lois Wilson who played the role at the age of 29 was just 5-years-older than both stars May McAvoy and Robert Agnew who played the twins. In this highly romantic image from the Golden Age of silent cinema we have Lois Wilson with Elliott Dexter as the Professor. There is a lot of writing on back of card in pencil which does not show through and card is otherwise immaculate NEAR FINE. unknown books

Studio passes were given to press and industry representatives allowing the bearer access to the studio’s lot and sets. It reads in full: “Non-Employee Identification Card Paramount Productions 5451 Marathon Street Hollywood California Name Jimmy Starr Herald-Express typed Expiration Date 4-30-35 typed Mar 26 1935 stamped Authorized by Studio Manager signed April stamped.†On the verso is a printed set of basic terms regarding the holder of the pass. About fine with the most minute trace of use. Jimmy Starr 1902 - 1990 is best known as a Hollywood columnist though he was also a writer and actor known for The Corpse Came C.O.D. 1947 A Night for Crime 1943 and Pink Pajamas 1929. Some of the March and April 1935 Paramount Studios films Mr. Starr may have enjoyed include such popular productions as Ruggles of Red Gap starring Charles Laughton Mary Boland Charlie Ruggles and Zasu Pitts winner of the Oscar for Best Picture Love in Bloom starring George Burns and Gracie Allen Mississippi starring Bing Crosby W.C. A very unusual exterior display for the film during its first release in Spain during the Spring of 1961. In Spanish-speaking countries the film was titled Psicosis. Hitchcock was so popular in these countries by 1960 that his image would greatly enhance the selling of a film. The famous cut out of Hitchcock pointing to his watch was installed inside and outside all theatres showing the film indicating that no patrons would be allowed into the theatre once the film had started. Two different posters and five lobby cards for the film are displayed.
