"Fernande Olivier the first real love in the life of Pablo Picasso left a vivid account of the years she spent with the great artist 1905-1912 which happened to coincide with the period of Picasso's most revolutionary work. Although the value and interest of her recollections from this period has been increasingly recognized by scholars most of her writing has not been available in English until now." "Besides the journal Loving Picasso also includes writing from Olivier's memoir first published in French in the 1930's and from her letters to Gertrude Stein Alice B. Toklas and Guillaume Apollinaire. Edited by Picasso scholar Marilyn McCully who also provides a foreword the book is illustrated by archival photographs of Olivier Picasso and their friends - Gertrude Stein Max Jacob Kees van Dongen and others - as well as reproductions of her own drawings and paintings; works for which Olivier modeled before she met Picasso; and some of the superb portraits of her by Picasso himself."--Jacket. 200025049Los Angeles: Dream City Publications. Fine in Near Fine dj. c.2000. First Edition. Hardcover. 0970567405 . no discernible wear to book; jacket has some extremely light surface wear still presents "as new" in mylar jacket cover. B&W and color photographs Uncommon and rather nicely-done super-MM-fan publication self-billed as "the first digitally-designed Marilyn book." It's presented in something of a scrapbook format with photographs and other illustrations interlaced with "the star's reflections on her own life -- her thoughts feelings and anecdotes culled from interviews and obscure recordings." Although Jack Allen is the primary author and about a third of the book's photos are credited to him the volume is described as a gathering of "rare and revealing photos many unseen from the private collections of Marilyn's premier fan club"; this would be the group "Marilyn Remembered" whose president Greg Schreiner states in a brief introductory note that the book represents "an opportunity for members to celebrate the millennium by sharing rarely-seen photographs from our collections of the woman who became the quistessential icon of the 20th century." In addition to Mr. Allen another sixteen individuals are given credit for the book's photos; there are also a number of "digital illustrations" rendered by Amit Zohar. .
