Warner 1829-1900 was a well-published essayist and close friend of Mark Twain. This is a Very Good Plus copy of a Later Printing one year after the First Edition in a lovely decorative binding. Light green cloth with a darker green for the spine with very fancy gilt designs and lettering. Clean text; 226 pages indexed; with four pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Top edge is gilt others rough-cut. Many many illustrations. The FFEP contains an intriguing inscription identifying the volume as "No. 1048" of the "Sheffield Friendly Union Library."
