Boston: Published by Gilbert and Dean at their Printing-Office No. 78 State-Street 1805. Two complete years of this weekly from 29 October 1803 through 19 October 1805 bound together: Volume II no. 1-52; Volume III no. 1-52. Folio. Pp. vi208;vi208. Text is printed in triple columns. Each volume is preceded by an index arranged according to the style of the piece essay history useful poetry etc. There are two title-pages for Volume III; one is bound at the beginning of Volume II and the other is in its proper place. The title-page for Volume II is lacking. Paper quality varies throughout. Text leaves are age-browned and occasionally lightly soiled and/or foxed mostly light to moderate but in a few instances it is heavy with a few dog-eared corners and occasional edgewear. Volume II no. 41 p. 163-4 has some loss at the bottom fore-corner resulting in a loss of text to the last few lines in one column. Bookblock is splitting with remnants of the backstrip; but the boards are missing. The June 16 1804 issue third page p.135 second column. "Domestick" mentions that Captain Lewis was in Pittsburg "accompanied by twenty Indian chiefs." There are a couple of tohter references to the L&C expedition. unknown books

Color cover illustration by Stabeneau of a 15th century Santa Claus. Some light chipping along the edges. Good to very good condition. Black and white photos and illustrations. A beautifully produced magazine published by Bayer 1900-1985 who was affiliated with Bauhaus for many years. The magazine had an Avante-garde appeal to a mass audience. It combined fashion literature graphic design and art. Somehow the prevailing regime in Germany left the magazine alone. This issue has beautiful full page color ads including a Christmas ad for Mouson Lavendel; 4711 Shahi Pardum; Schultz Grunlack ale; Ariston Luxe cigarettes; Kolnisch Wasser; Atikak cigarettes. Baseball Magazine was published for almost 50years ending in the late 1950s. This copy was probably the first published after the official end of WWII. An editorial in this edition talks about post war plans by some teams to improve their stadiums. This would include the New York Yankees. The cover photograph features the Chicago Clubs' pitching staff.
