These four issues of the "New" Crawdaddy! are all three-hole punched and included in an unprinted black folder. New Issue #1 features articles on R.E.M. Neil Young Bruce Cockburn and more. 14 pp. New #2 features Wiliams' article on Arrested Development Pearl Jam Elvis Costello and Tom Waits. 16 pp. New #3 features Williams on The Beach Boys. 14 pp. Lastly New #14 from Autumn 1996 features Michaelangelo Matos and others on James Brown plus other features. 18 pp. Other than the hole-punch these issues are all in fine condition. This edition combines the first and second number dedicated to the Imperial Navy and its "defense of Asia"including amazing photo plates some folding of the attacks on European holdings in Southeast Asia and the attack on Pearl Harbor. The work combined the talents of some of the most important of Japan's photographers working under the direction of Kimura Ihei. The layout was designed under the direction of Hara Hiromu. Color cover illustration by Stabeneau of a 15th century Santa Claus. Some light chipping along the edges. Good to very good condition. Black and white photos and illustrations. A beautifully produced magazine published by Bayer 1900-1985 who was affiliated with Bauhaus for many years. The magazine had an Avante-garde appeal to a mass audience. It combined fashion literature graphic design and art. Somehow the prevailing regime in Germany left the magazine alone. This issue has beautiful full page color ads including a Christmas ad for Mouson Lavendel; 4711 Shahi Pardum; Schultz Grunlack ale; Ariston Luxe cigarettes; Kolnisch Wasser; Atikak cigarettes. A compilation of celebrity recipes with the recipes attributed to the famous including: Gertrude Stein John Steinbeck Walt Disney J. Edgar Hoover Rube Goldberg and many others. Also includes a section of recipes of well-known chefs of the day with a bias toward California Hotels and the west in general as well as a short section of recipes from the Hotel Del Monte. The playful illustrations by Sinclair Ross alternately reference Hollywood and the frontier West. Endpapers reproduce the autographs of many of the celebrities featured in the book. Publisher's gilt-decorated cream-colored boards near fine. In clean and bright yellow dust jacket printed in blue and orange but with several good-sized chips to the front and rear panels.
