Old institutional bookplate and stamp, very neat contemporary inscription, some penciling. A very nice copy in handsome binding. ~ First edition. Text block upper edge dyed deep red. Marbled endpapers. Includes book mark ribbon. Covers slightly dirty. Cover corners and edges slightly worn. Spine bottom edge worn. Upper page edges stained - the dyeing appears dirty. Several small pencil marks on whitepage. Several pages slightly age-stained and slightly tattered near edges - NO damage to text. Plates and folding maps slightly yellowing, some slightly age-stained, but otherwise in good condition. One folding map upper right edge slightly tattered. Pages slightly wavy and yellowing. [VOL.I]: Cover hinges mildly worn. Ex libris sticker on front inner cover upper corner. Corners of two last pages dirty. Egypt map edges creased. [VOL.II]: Front cover detached, rear cover almost detached from binding. [SUMMARY]: This attractively-made classic travel book in two volumes has sustained some external damage, but is still in good condition for its age.
