Leaves browned scattered spotting. An anonymous tract discussing the increasingly convoluted distinctions between the factions of 'high-church' and 'low-church' emerging within the Church of England during the early eighteenth century period. The author notes that 'some very discerning Men suspect a Snake in the Grass and that all this Noise about High and Low-Church whatever was the Original of it is now improv'd into a mere State Faction and signifies no more than Whig and Tory'. AQ33020London: Printed by Cave & Co. s.d. c. 1820 12pp. Disbound. A trifle creased initial and terminal leaves dust-soiled. An apparently unrecorded edition of 'The Danger of Delay' a short pamphlet explaining the dangers of postponing one's commitment to salvation. The author warns that 'the difficulties of repentance will not be diminished but on the contrary increased by delay'; the impacts of old age and the overwhelming nature of sin will simply reduce one's chances of making a meaningful turn towards redemption later in life. . 12mo. Printed by Cave & Co., [s.d., c. 1820] unknown

1764AQ21402London: s.n. 1764. 14pp. Disbound. Title page very nearly detached. An apparently unrecorded anonymous polemic against the interpretation of the gospels by early modern theologians. The author takes exception to the affirmations of the likes of William Twisse and John Goodwin whom he charges with neglecting the precise wording of the scriptures in favour of personal ideology particularly in regard to 'Papist' beliefs in the purification of baptism. No concrete indications as to the identity of the 'J. M.' to whose writings the pamphlet responds are provided in the text; however a devotional tract issued under those initials was published at Edinburgh in 1759 entitled Bellarmine's ghost conjured by the evidence of truth; or John Goodwin laid in his grave after his resurrection. A dialogue upon the active obedience of Christ between a pretended seceder and a member of the Church of Scotland ESTC T204142. The mention of Goodwin both in that title and the present work goes someway to establishing a tangential connection. . First edition. 8vo. [s.n.] unknown
