Date de 1658 – 1659 Réalisée grâce à la technique de l’eau-forte. En bon état, très beau travail. Sébastien Leclerc ou Le Clerc, baptisé le 26 septembre 1637 à Metz et mort à Paris le 25 octobre 1714, est un dessinateur, peintre, graveur et ingénieur militaire lorrain.

Un volume in-12 (15 x 9,5 cm), reliure pleine basane de l'époque, dos à nerfs orné, reliure frottée, manques au bas du dos et aux coiffes, coins émoussés, petites marques d'étiquette au dos, exemplaire qui baillle un peu. (12) 597 (2) pages, papier jauni, rousseurs éparses, deux pages barrées à l’encre. Première édition en 1653. Divisé en douze discours décrivant les différentes étapes conduisant au sacerdoce. Le cinquième porte sur les exorcistes (pages 247-284). Ils connurent un grand succès et furent encore réédités dans la Collection des orateurs sacrés de l'abbé Migne en 1844.Exemplaire en assez bon état.

This was a popular choice for blessings: “exorcisms to drive away various evils and conjurations to drive away aerial storms excited by demons and their ministers†trans. The first edition was published in 1651 and many editions were published going forward a testament to the popularity and utilization of the text. This copy clearly well-used and splashed with holy water throughout though remains in presentable condition<br /> <p><br /> OCLC cites only 2 holdings each for the 1651 edition and 1655.  </p> . A Very good example. <br /> <br /> <br /> <p>Roman Catholic book of rituals and other ecclesiastical functions as commanded by Pope Paul V. Instructions printed in red ink in French and sacred text in black ink in Latin. Containing many pages with chants and hymns to be sung during sacred practices. Included are baptisms as prescribed for various ages; exorcisms as a subsection of baptism; penitence; the eucharist mass; communion; the sacrament of extreme unction to be performed when one is gravely ill and expected to perish; funeral and wedding rites; processionals; benedictions; and then another section on exorcisms that are specifically to do with expunging the devil from one’s soul. With the library stamp of the Capuchin Monastery of Sursee Switzerland established in c.1608 now disbanded and converted into a museum. This copy likely well-used in all manner of ritual with contemporary plainchant neumes on 4 lines covering 16 pages at rear. </p> <br /> <p>Both of these texts not found in OCLC in this particular edition. </p> .
