Both volumes with numerous decorative capitals and printer's devices of styles and methods ranging from post-incunabula to baroque engraving. All page edges rouged. Bound in contemporary white blindstamped goatskin with 2 of 4 engraved fore-edge clasps. Spines with four raised bands and red spine label with gilt "Institut Societ Jes Tom number. A fine and unusual tour de force of Jesuit and printing history includes excellent example of St. Ignatius of Loyola's Spiritual Exercises and mentions of missions in Canada Brazil and Japan among others.
