248 pages including references. Would be graded very good but for two defects; when former owner blacked out his name inside front cover the black ink seeped through and is very visible on front cover. There is an average amount of underlining in the book, primarily in pencil. As to the content of the book, it is much more than a collection of the finest pieces, newly expanded and updated, by one of Canada's best-known commentators on religion. In addition to a lengthy introductory statement of his own beliefs, the former relition editor of The Toronto Star has written a number of short essays on controversial issues specially for this book. Here, Harpur is able to speak more frankly than he could as a journalist. A book not only for church-goers but for all who are concerned with religion and its place in the world. Book

"It is generally acknowledged that Mormonism is similar to Mohammedansim in its endorsement of the practice of polygamy, and its ideas of heaven. Many other points of similarity between these systems have been noted by students, and the Book of Mormon has marked resemblance to the Koran. As all ancient religions have a modern equivalent, Mormonism can justly be claimed to be the modern form of Mohammedanism, and not incorrectly termed "the Islam of America." - From the Editorial Committees.
