1820072306Albany NY: J. Buel 1820. Hardcover. Very Good with no dust jacket. Reprinted by the State's appointed printer; each year is paginated individually and begins with an index of vote outcomes. Some toning evident in margins and whatever pattern was originally given the page block edges has worn to an uneven brown; the front endpaper has split along the hinge and there is some residue of a bookplate on the pastedown; the binding remains secure though with a short tear in the legal-yellow cloth along the left front two shallow depressions at the front foreedge wear to the cloth at free and bound corners and noticeable handling prints; decoration at the spine including the red and black leather labels for title and year shows concurrent wear including chipping of leather and flaking of the gilt borders on the leather; nonetheless designed to be sturdy and to maintain its dignity on the shelf in which endeavor it continues to succeed. 932pp A well-kept reprint of the climactic volume in the golden age "Colony of New York" series that preceded the popular multiverse crossover "Constitutional Convention" starring John A. Hancock and Benjamin Franklin Sr. Spoiler alert The letter at the end of March 1776 alludes to events in Boston and taxation problems but later popularizations left out the anger at British welcome of "popery" in Quebec the decline of the three-branch government and the action-packed amendment scenes in which representatives competed to restate portions of the bill with more negative superlatives.; Tall 4to.
