Legislative Assembly to assess and quantify the presence and influence of Asian communities. The prevailing attitudes of the day helped to demonize the information presented in this report precipitating many damaging aftereffects for Asian communities. Cover title. Side stapled paper wraps 4to size 10.5 inches tall pp. 24 numerous in-text tables and a large fold-out table "Number of Trade Licences Issued to Orientals in British Columbia in 1925." at rear. n.b. the fold-out table at rear was also used as the lower cover by the printer as evidenced by the binding staples being completely covered by the portion of the foldout at the spine not only on this copy but also as seen on another institutionally held copy. Paper is toned and brittle w. rear cover foldout table detached but present upper cover w. some tears and brief ink notation near top edge else unmarked throughout. The 1927 report includes statistical information in the following areas : population land-holdings industry attendance of public schools and trading activities covering the Japanese Chinese and East Indian populations. Lettering on spine reads "Journals House of Assembly Lower Canada 1832-33 Appendix." New endpapers. Front free endpaper has light dampstain to bottom corner. English and French title pages have professional repair to bottom near margin. Some thumbing to pages. Certain sections have wrinkling and staining; approx. the last 60 leaves are more stained. Last 4 leaves have stuck together and last leaf has holes. Very last page of text is illegible in places due to sticking. <br /><br />"From the 15th November 1832 to the 3d April 1833. In the Third year of the Reign of King William the Fourth. Being the Third Session of the Fourteenth Provincial Parliament of This Province." Includes reference to the May 21 election riots in Montreal. On that occasion three supporters of Daniel Tracey of the Parti Patriote were shot dead by government troops. Colonel MacIntosh and Captain Temple are arrested for ordering the shooting. The next day it was announced that Tracey had been elected to the Legislative Assembly for Montreal West. Appendix M approx. 140 p. of this volume pertains to correspondence concerning these events in both English and French. There was also a cholera epidemic in Quebec that year and Appendix D refers to sickness and burials at the Quarantine Station at Grosse Isle.</p> Printed and Sold by Neilson and Cowan hardcover

Small tear and light spotting to plan. <br/><br/>Of significance is this scarce plan of Port Hope Harbour surveyed and planned by Peter Fleming January 1846. Fleming's proposed "improvements" shown in pink the proposed sections of the Board of Works shown in green and the "present" sections of the Harbour Lands and Piers shown in yellow. Map is 45 x 55 cm when unfolded. hardcover
