19494310Spokane WA / Boston MA: First Church of Christ Scientist 1949. Show Card. Very Good. An interesting Christian Science artifact printed to promote a free lecture being given by one of the Church's more peripatetic teachers Dr. Hendrik J. de Lange. The date of 1949 is inferred from three sources ; an ad on p. 2 of the Wednesday Nov. 10 1948 issue of the Gisborne Herald Newspaper where the same free lecture by de Lange was offered at the First Church of Christ Scientist Gisborne New Zealand ; an ad on p. 4 of The St. Joseph Herald Press Newspaper again for the same free lecture on Sept. 20 1949 and finally the day and date match the 1949 calendar. Additionally de Lange quit the Church in 1957 so certainly no later than that. An 11 inch tall x 21 inch wide letterpress lobby / window show card which reads "How Does Christian Science Heal / Attend a Free Lecture entitled / "Christian Science : The Science of Life Abundant" / By Dr. Hendrik J. de Lange C.S.B. of New York City / Member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church of Christ Scientist in Boston Mass. / Thursday March 17 at 8:00 p.m. / Church Edifice / Fourth Avenue and Post Street / First Church of Christ Scientist Spokane Washington Cordially Invites You". Card with light wear toning and a single pin hole puncture at bottom right corner verso unmarked. The Christian Science lecture website dates de Lange's The Science of Life Abundant lecture to 1948. First Church of Christ, Scientist unknown
