RARE! An early edition of "Shaarei Zedek" by Jewish Halachic scholar Abraham Danzig, a book dealing with the commandments ("Mitzvahs") that Jews living in the Holy Land have to follow. This 19th century Jerusalem edition is dedicated to the Jewish colonial society "Hevrat Yishuv Ha-Aretz" which was established 4 years prior in Frankfurt an der Oder. The book carries an autograph by Elijah Ezekiel Tzabar. 215x170mm, 46 double pages. Marbled quarter-leather hardcover. Cover worn, bumped, pierced and partially detached. Spine worn and peeling. Whitepage detached. Pages yellowing. Few worm holes on page shoulders, with no damage to text. Despite the aforementioned wear, this rare Jerusalem edition of a proto-Zionist work is in good condition for reading.
