RARE German translation in prose of 'Jerusalem Delivered' - an epic poem by the legendary 16th-century Italian poet Torquato Tasso (1544-1595), best known for this poem (in Italian - 'Gerusalemme liberata', first published in 1581). The poem is a highly imaginative version of the combats between Christians and Muslims at the end of the First Crusade, during the Siege of Jerusalem. Contains an introduction and a short biography of Torquato Tasso. Title page of each volume contains a small b&w engraving. 145x95mm. 276+278 pages. Half-cloth marbled Hardcover with gilt spine.
