Grand ex-libris gravé (58 x 101 mm) au premier contreplat: «Bücher Sammlung Johannes Merck», soit Johannes Theodor Merck (Manchester, 1855-Hambourg, 1934), commerçant international, directeur de la Hamburg-Amerika Line en 1896). Ex-dono manuscrit, au bas de cet ex-libris,à un certain Fritz Sieveking, par «Herbert Merck, Hamburg, 21. II. 1949», soit le Dr. phil. nat. Herbert Theodor Merck (Hambourg, 1900- Hambourg, 1982), troisième enfant de Johannes Theodor Merck.
