These include a commitment to systematic meditation, which is reinforced by a few illustrations from his own diary, kept during his annual monthly retreat in May in the woods near Hoghton Tower. Ambrose's works were highly regarded at the time, and continued to be reprinted after his death, appearing in Wesley's Christian Library.
