Signature on title of Armand Auboyneau who had presented it to Samuel Malbone on the blank preceding title whose signature is on the endpaper with Auboyneau's that of Eliza Tweeny Malbone is on the first page of text. First American edition. French and English text on facing pages. 1 vols. 12mo. Author of "Paul and Virginia." The first book of the author's work "Arcadia" "wherein the celebrated author . . .had proposed to represent the three states of barbarity civilization and corruption through which pass successively almost every nation" Advertisement of the Translators.
