An exceptional collection of works many produced in the same year of the fateful tragedy. After striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton England to New York City in April of 1912 nearly 1500 of the passenger liner's 2224 passengers perished making the event one of modern history's deadliest peacetime commercial marine disasters. Built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast the Titanic was the second of three Olympic-class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line and the largest ship afloat at the time she entered service. The shipwreck of the Titanic was discovered in 1985 over 70 years after the disaster during a U.S. military mission and remains on the seabed.
