Though the stories are presented as fiction Alma Kunz Gulick had been raised a Theosophist and belief in fairies was central to Theosophism. Alma's younger brother Fritz Kunz married another lifelong Theosophist Dora Van Gelder whose 1977 book "The Real World of Fairies: A First Person Account" was also published by the Theosphical Publishing House and which title was certainly influence by her sister-in-law's much earlier book.
