Wheaton was the first co-ed institution of higher learning when it opened in 1864 and unlike the vast majority of Evangelical and Fundamentalist institutions for instance A.T. Following Tom Fuhr's 1st year at Princeton Theological Seminary he traveled in 1941 by train from home in Hastings NE to Florida's Everglades to be the guest student pastor of the Everglades Community Church. To Fuhr's pictorial narrative is entitled 'Florida - America's Playground'. 1941 Florida is seen through photos of Miami St. Augustine and the Everglades. Tom's parents drove down to Florida to meet him during his last week as guest pastor and the three motored north with stops in FL GA and Ky on the way back to Hastings NE. 9"x12" wood album- Pasadena Wood & Metalcraft Co.
