Paperback; spine is sewn; vg; inside cover it has the author's distinctive signature and year 1990 written underneath. Small signature of previous owner also inside cover; small crease/curling to very corner of covers; The author had a preface written to this story saying that when she wrote Adventure Royal she thought she had got Ruritania out of her system but it proved not to be quite true. She regarded this story even though its about a European Princess in New York. The book was written in the late 1960's and was born of a lingering interest in Ruritanian fiction and also of her love for writing for writing about Manhattan. She intended it for 1st sale in the US but at that point in time the 'fashion' turned towards serious books with a social message which she says was a good thing in many ways but put a stop to the publication of seraphina. Seraphina was put on a back burner and in 1990 the author had it privately printed for collectors of her books.
