Includes bibliographic documentation numerous tables maps and illustrations. “This book tells the story of Altona settled by a small group of pioneers on an original settlement on the prairies in the 1870s. The old Altona Village which was settled in the 1880s graduallly evolved into a modern town. It is an absorbing story well told. The author has researched her book thoroughly from original as well as secondary sources and supplemented this with oral interviews. The book is well illustrated and is complete with index bibliography glossary tables and figures. It is more than a chronological story. Against the background of history the author has also sketched the struggle of the Mennonite pioneers to maintain their identity and at the same time adapt to the current and changing conditions of society around them. And in it we also learn what it is to be Canadian and at the same time to be part of a minority group.†D.W. Friesen & Sons Ltd., 1982. First Edition. hardcover books

Color-pictorial dj with red lettering on spine. xv 453 pp. with 65 color plates 93 color figures and additional images. Heavy at 7 pounds and will require extra postage. Catalogue from the exhibition held in Forth Worth San Francisco and Lens France between May 2016 and June 2017. "The Brothers Le Nain: Painters of 17th-Century France is the first major exhibition in the United States devoted to the Le Nain brothers-Antoine ca. 1598-1648 Louis ca. 1600/1605-1648 and Mathieu ca. 1607-1677. The presentation features more than forty of the brothers' works to highlight the Le Nains' full artistic production. This comprehensive presentation and its almost five-hundred-page catalogue offer new scholarship concerning the authorship dating and meaning behind their art. As the works were not individually signed assigning a specific painting to a specific brother has long been a matter for debate. Extensive new research has been conducted to address questions of authorship through direct comparisons of key works from the brothers' oeuvre. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to compare these pieces side by side in the Legion of Honor's galleries. The exhibition also includes a substantial technical study from painting conservators at the Fine Arts Museums and the Kimbell detailing the materials and working methods of the brothers."
