There was also a deluxe edition of thirty copies with the illustrations colored by hand and enclosed in a black clamshell box. One of the most charming of late 20th century cookbooks. The text evokes the ordinary manner in which recipes are collected and adapted in the home kitchen over time and the illustrations perfectly match this depicting the family mid-meal the author bending into the reach in for ingredients or picking fallen fruit while hanging laundry.
