The thought-provoking second novel of Canadian-American writer Saul Bellow the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize 1976 Nobel Prize in Literature and the National Medal of Arts for his literary work.As with much of Bellow's fiction the protagonist of this story Leventhal is a Jewish man. Whilst his wife is away on family business the man is haunted by an old acquaintance who unjustly claims that Leventhal has been the cause of his misfortune. In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally spine slightly faded with only a hint of shelf wear. Dust wrapper is sunned to the spine with tape repairs to the either side of the head. A couple small closed tears to the edges and a minor tide spot to the rear panel. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot and minor toning to the endpapers.
