George Jacob Holyoake was an English secularist co-operator and newspaper editor who coined the terms 'secularism' in 1851 and 'jingoism' in 1878. This personal work details the editor's life through anecdotes and key historical moments of which he witnessed such as the Anti-Corn Law League the origins of Secularism and his imprisonment due to his atheist publication Oracle of Reason. In the original cloth binding. Externally very smart. With light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Slight darkening to the spine. Internally firmly bound.
