Autobiographical story of a Confederate soldier from Washington County Tennessee; Civil War experiences include his capture at Kennesaw Mountain in June 1864 his incarceration as a prisoner of war at Camp Douglas Illinois his journey home and after reflecting on his childhood in east Tennessee how he came to join an infantry company as the war began. Yeager 1842-1940 served with the 29th Tennessee Infantry Confederate until his capture; though not included in this autobiography his post-Civil War years were spent first as a lawyer in Tennessee then as a newspaperman and farmer in Johnson County Texas. Text is predominantly in German and Latin This is Jacob Friderich Reimman's attempt at an introduction to the Historiam Literariam in general. Leibnitz considered it fascinating as did Pierre Bayle. The frontispiece of the garden maze is fascinating as the author sees the mystery of the vast early history of the language and its Teutonic origins. Bound in full vellum title on spine in brown ink but faded an early previous owner has written neatly in the upper margins the subjects of each page ad underlining what he believed was important passages. This edition of Boehm's writings in translation marks an important chapter in the English reception of Boehm's writings. A German mystic and self-taught theologian he believed that humanity had fallen from a state of divine grace to its present state of sin and suffering that the forces of evil included fallen angels who had rebelled against God. On these points he is consistent with Lutheran Theology. Boehme believed however that the fall from grace was a necessary stage in the evolution of the universe. It was necessary for humanity to depart from God in order initiate an evolution toward a new state of redeemed harmony that would be more perfect than the original state of innocence.
