Even though the limitation states --erroneously-- that there were 521 copies issued the author confirms that there were far far fewer than that done more along the lines of 30 to 40 copies. A sharp well-preserved copy to boot. Bright and Near Fine in its original stapled wrappers. Very light scuffing at the lower panel edges and one inconspicuous crease along the spine otherwise clean as could be. Quarto 45 pgs. 19982690New York: Vehicle Editions 1998. Preview edition limited to 240 copies. Octavo 5-1/2" x 7-3/4" in blank white card stock wraps with pictorial dust jacket 32 pages. Corners gently bumped' horizontal indentation running from fore edge halfway to spine on front board; else clean and sound; Very Good . Clean unclipped dust jacket also holds the same indentation mark to front; trace edge wear besides; Near Fine. Condensed preview edition of the exhaustive compendium of previously uncollected writing from punk musician poet and visual artist Richard Hell inscribed to title page in black ink to former bandmate collaborator and best friend Tom Verlaine: "For Tom with thanks and more sincerely" Hot and cold

Hell and Verlaine met as high school students Richard Meyers and Tom Miller in Delaware and developed their identities alongside and against each other -- running away to New York City and forming the pivotal punk band Television together before their well-documented falling out in the mid-1970s. It wasn't until decades later when both men had settled into quieter and more individuated lives of less-public creative production that they resumed any sense of rapport. Hell related to this bookseller that he would see Verlaine browsing the dollar racks outside Manhattan's Strand Bookstore occasionally presenting him with his latest book as their tensions thawed.

Hot and Cold contains much content from their time of collaboration with poems from their jointly-created alter ego "Theresa Stern" as well as essays and photos regarding the Television/CBGB's days.

This copy was printed in a very short run of 240 copies 40 of which were hardcover by Annabel Lee's Vehicle Editions for the author's exhibition at Rupert Goldsworthy Gallery in October of 1998 in anticipation of the full edition which appeared the following fall of 1999. 1978151059New York: CBGB's 1978. Vintage CBGB'S 2nd Avenue Theater four-page program Grand Opening Concert Bill the only concert bill printed for the short-lived club for late December 1978 announcing its Tuesday night opening with Talking Heads and Tuff Darts on December 27 The Dictators and Dead Boys on December 28 and Richard Hell and the Voidoids with Patti Smith December 29-31.

These acts would be the theater's last perfomances. Included in the program are bios for headlining acts Talking Heads Dead Boys and Richard Hell and the Voidoids as well as listing of CBGB'S Bowery schedule for December 27th through December 31st.

CBGB'S owner Hilly Kristal opened CBGB'S 2nd Avenue Theater in late 1977 in the old Anderson Theatre at 66 2nd Avenue. The venue was designed to accommodate the growing crowds bands like Talking Heads the Patti Smith Group and Richard Hell and the Voidoids were attracting to the small Bowery club.

With a capacity of just over 1700 seats massive compared to the 350-person capacity of CBGB'S it opened on Tuesday December 27th with Talking Heads headlining and Tuff Darts as the opener. Due to the decrepit state of the theater the cost of bringing the theater up to code even with backing from the likes of Sire records president Seymour Stein were too great. Kristal nearly went bankrupt trying to make a go of it ultimately closing the theater in early 1979. The last performance at the venue was New Year's Eve 1978 featuring The Patti Smith Group Richard Hell and the Voidoids the Erasers and Mars.

5.5 x 8 inches Two page bi-Fold. Near Fine. 1977138408Burbank CA: Sire Records PRO 696 / Warner Brothers 1977. First Edition. First Edition. Early promotional compilation of notable "New Wave" bands of the late 1970s including Talking Heads and Richard Hell. Includes two 33-1/3RPM 7-inch EP vinyl records. Released during the height of the New Wave movement 1977-1982.

By the time this album was produced New Wave had replaced "punk" as the definition for underground music notably in the United Kingdom.
