Aaronson a little-documented composer whose work here was published in homage to Handy. The present copy bears Handy’s contemporary inscription: “To Miss Sybil Gregory — W. C. Handy — 6-16-1951.â€<br /> <br /> Little information survives regarding Gregory suggesting a personal acquaintance or admirer within Handy’s musical circle. Signed publications from the Handy Brothers imprint are uncommon and provide a tangible association with one of the most influential figures in the history of American blues. Arribó a La Habana a los 14 años siendo aún muy joven comenzó a colaborar en <em>El Comercio</em> y en otras publicaciones habaneras.Trabó estrecha amistad con >Rubén MartÃnez Villena Enrique Serpa >Guillermo MartÃnez Márquez y otros jóvenes intelectuales cubanos </p><p>Bajo el seudónimo de <strong>Olán ClarÃn</strong> escribió en <em>El Nacionalista</em> en 1919. Publicó después poemas en el <em>Diario de la Marina</em> <em>Galicia</em> <em>Eco de Galicia</em> y en <em>Chic</em> y fue incluido en la >antologÃa <em>Los Argonautas</em> 1924. En Madrid se dedicó al periodismo estrenó algunas piezas teatrales y publicó entre otras obras los poemarios <em>Confesión</em> 1927 y <em>El Molino que no muele</em> 1931 la <em>BiografÃa de Jacinto Benavente</em> 1930 y el drama <em>Proa al sol</em> 1955. El estallido de la >Guerra Civil Española GCE interrumpió su carrera literaria en la capital española.</p><p>En los dÃas finales de 1936 volvió a desembarcar en La Habana esta vez como refugiado polÃtico. De inmediato comenzó a desarrollar una activa campaña en defensa de la causa republicana a través del diario <em>Pueblo</em> y de otros órganos de prensa. En noviembre de 1938 asumió la dirección del bimensuario antifranquista <em>Revista de España</em>. En enero de 1939 ingresó como redactor en <em>El Mundo</em> pero después pasó a serlo del diario <em>Mañana</em> y de la <em>revista Carteles</em>.</p><p>Sus piezas teatrales <em>Siembra</em> <em>Diálogo de Juan</em> y <em>Pedro y el amor es otra cosa</em> fueron representadas en la capital cubana en febrero marzo y en noviembre de 1943 respectivamente. En el primer semestre de 1955 visitó España y en Madrid estrenó sus piezas teatrales <em>Con la vida perdonada</em> y <em>Tierra de sangre</em> y publicó el libro de versos en gallego <em>Lonxe</em>. A partir de entonces se distanció de las posiciones republicanas y comenzó a congraciarse con el régimen franquista.
